Luther King, Jr. Youth Challenge 2002-2003

The Martin Luther King Coalition will give a $1000 prize to recognize an outstanding contribution by a New Hampshire youth group to last year's observation of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. For example, do you know of places that held all-school assemblies to prepare for the holiday? Youth groups that conducted community service projects or did a dramatization of an important incident in civil rights history? Do you know any youth who used Dr. King's principles and nonviolent methods to call for inter-racial understanding, social justice, or peace? They may be eligible to win the 2003 Martin Luther King, Jr. Youth Group Challenge.
Criteria
for selection will include:

· youth involvement
in development of project; · extent of community impact; · incorporation of Dr. King's teachings, including his life, philosophy, and role in history; · relevance to contemporary issues; and · creativity |
The winning group will be honored at the 2003 Martin Luther King Day Community Celebration, which will be held at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Manchester, 2 to 5 pm.
How
to enter:
Send a description of your group's activities, including what you did, who was
involved, how many people participated actively, whom you reached, and how you
judge your own success. Feel free to include newspaper clippings, copies of
programs, videos, or other materials that document your group's achievements
last year. Be sure to include the name of the school or youth organization,
a contact person with address, phone number, and e-mail.

The Martin Luther
King Coalition is made of 17 organizations, including AFSC. The Coalition sponsors
the annual MLK Day Celebration and offers year-round programs on the life, work,
and philosophy of Martin Luther King, Jr.
